| FOR THOSE WHO HAVE A MANUSCRIPT UNDERWAY: ALL LEVELS OF EDITING
|
• Light (generally called "copy") editing involves
detailed reading for punctuation, indentation, spacing, overall layout issues,
etc. • A slightly deeper edit does all this plus looks at spelling and grammar,
with some usage. • A somewhat deeper read goes to usage issues as well. • From
here, there are more incisive options, such as stuctural and plot editing,
thematic editing, character work, and more developmental editing. • Many
authors want their work edited in track changes mode, so that edits made, and
sentences added are easily spotted when scanning the manuscript.
